Diaper Couches
So I found myself in Costco last night looking for more diapers. I was in a sleepy haze, having only slept for a few hours in the previous days. Somehow, I wandered by boxes that looked like what I was looking for ... until I read the label on the box. At the top, the box said it contained “Diaper Couches”. I thought to myself, “WTF are ‘diaper couches’? Is this something that that lady didn’t teach us about in that baby care class we took at the hospital? What are they, a seat that the baby can sit in that doubles as a diaper? That’s not too practical ...”
I stood there and stared at the boxes for a good 10 minutes. I think a Costco Associate or two asked me if they could help me. I just mumbled and they went on their way. I was troubled about these couches for diapers. I could not figure them out, as the picture on the box looked like diapers, but it was perplexing me as to how couches fit into the picture. I picked the box up, shook it, put it back down. I still couldn’t figure it out. I imagined little seats with room in the butt for diapers. “Now that’s stupid,” I thought. But I couldn’t ignore the evidence; it said right there on the label “Diaper Couches.”
There was a lady standing next to me who looked like she knew what she was doing. I was just about to ask her what a diaper couch was, then I saw on her box “Diaper Couches Pañales”. Finally, the lack-of-sleep haze lifted. I thought to myself, “That last work looks spanish, maybe ‘couches’ is French for ‘diaper’.” I was no longer confused.
I then noticed that Costco did not have any diapers for newborn babies. I left Costco empty handed.
